Family house -Velem
In this project, we had the opportunity to design a unique timber log house. The residential building was planned for a settlement near the Austrian border. Thanks to the characteristics of its timber-frame log construction, the house harmonizes perfectly with the mountainous environment for which it was designed.
The building features a ground floor plus attic layout with a traditional gable roof. Large glazed surfaces define the living space, where a gallery-style living room opens up to reveal the exposed roof structure.
The ground floor accommodates the kitchen, dining area, and living room within a spacious open-plan layout, along with two bedrooms and their associated bathrooms. On the upper level, three additional bedrooms are provided, sharing a common bathroom.
The house is situated on a gently sloping hillside and is surrounded by a custom-designed terrace with a distinctive timber column structure.
Adjacent to the residence, and partially embedded into the hillside, a wine cellar was designed in response to the client’s request. In the open space in front of the entrances to both buildings, a fire pit area was created.
