Family house ZSI - Óbarok
During the design process, we worked closely with the client to create a residential building with a clean, modern form language that remains timeless. The simple gable-roofed volume is designed with a ground floor and a converted attic, with its proportions and height defined by local building regulations.
An additional, lighter secondary volume is attached laterally to the main building, functioning as an entrance area and winter garden. Extending the roofline of this entrance volume, a pergola structure with steel cables is created, allowing climbing plants to grow over time. Walking beneath the pergola, a set of landscape steps leads towards the rear garden.
The off-white rendered façade is complemented by warm-toned vertical timber cladding, most prominently on the rear garden gable wall. The garden-facing open terrace, with its glass balustrade and custom-designed timber structure, creates a light and seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
To protect the timber-frame structure, a concrete block retaining wall is integrated along the north-western façade, carefully following the natural terrain. Its detached construction and ventilated air cavity provide effective protection against ground moisture.
The interior layout is ideally suited for a family with up to three children, featuring four bedrooms, a spacious open-plan living–kitchen–dining area with large glazed surfaces opening towards the garden, and well-separated private spaces on the upper level.
Both the structural solutions and the terrain-integrated design prioritize long-term durability and material protection, all expressed through a refined and contemporary architectural approach.
